SPRING "GETAWAY"--A Volunteer's Message--Telephone, Sunday May 13, 2012

"This is Betty Waterford, the 80 year old that went to the outing with the grant thing you all give.   I went as a volunteer. I want to tell you. It was the most monumental experience to be with those people during this time.  They were living in the moment, they weren’t in the past and they weren’t in the future.  Seeing the change in the person’s eyes and facial expressions.  Listening to their stories that someone cares.  And the gifts that they made and gave to me.

It was more than I have ever, ever experienced.  Thank you so much from this 80 year old that was at the “GetAway.”  Thank you , Thank you, Thank you”

THE QUESTIONS WE ASK

Every camp includes a time when we ask every participant, staff, caregiver, and volunteer what they think.

Here are some of the questions we ask:

How was the food?

How was your room?

What was a new experience for you?

Did you make friends?

What was your favorite part?

What did you like the least?

What changes would you make?

Were you able to get some time away?

How can we make your volunteer experience even better?

What do we do with the results?

We enjoy.

We celebrate.

We say thank you.

We make changes.

We ask again.

What is our pledge?

We will always ask......What do you think?
